Applies To: eDispatches CAD Integration & Mobile App Mapping Troubleshooting
If CAD mapping is not displaying accurately in your eDispatches mobile app, review these primary causes and troubleshooting procedures to resolve location errors.
1. Address Data & Formatting Errors
Incomplete or non-standard address strings from the dispatch center are the most common cause of mapping failures.
- Incomplete Data: Street numbers, directional prefixes (e.g., N, S), or city names are missing from the CAD alert.
- Improper Formatting: Unstandardized abbreviations or missing field delimiters prevent proper parsing.
- Action Required: Verify that the dispatch center outputs complete, structured address fields.
2. CAD Parser Configuration & Updates
eDispatches relies on a custom CAD Parser to extract location data from incoming alerts and plot it on the map.
- Missing Parser: Mapping will not render if an active parser is not configured for your account.
- Outdated Parser: If your dispatch center modifies its CAD layout, field ordering, or email structure, the existing parser will stop extracting coordinates correctly.
- Action Required: Contact support to update your CAD parser if mapping stops working after a dispatch system update.
3. Optimizing Accuracy via GPS Coordinates
While physical street addresses can be mapped, providing exact coordinates provides the highest location accuracy.
- Address Limitations: Rural routes, new developments, or broad street ranges can lead to ambiguous mapping pins.
- Coordinate Precision: Sending WGS 84 latitude and longitude coordinates ensures precise pin placement directly at the incident site.
- Recommendation: Configure your CAD export to include latitude and longitude alongside or in place of street addresses. See our CAD Messaging Guidelines for details.
Submitting a Support Ticket
If mapping issues persist after checking these requirements, submit a support ticket including:
- Specific incident numbers where mapping failed.
- Sample CAD message text (remove sensitive personal data).
- Screenshots of the incorrect map placement in the app.
