Applies To: eDispatches iOS & Android App Users & CAD Integration Setup
eDispatches CAD Alerts process incoming dispatch data through a two-phase implementation system to ensure accurate information parsing and automated mapping. If you are not yet configured for CAD notifications, see our guide on getting started with Enhanced CAD Relay.
Phase 1: Raw Data Collection & Evaluation
During Phase 1, dispatch alerts deliver unparsed raw text directly to the app. The eDispatches development team uses these initial logged calls to evaluate how your dispatch system structures its call data.
- Display Format: Complete unformatted text populates strictly within the Narrative section.
-
Mapping Limitation: Automatic mapping is unavailable during Phase 1 and will display
Location not founduntil a parser is assigned.
Phase 2: Custom Parsing & Map Activation
Once enough sample call logs are collected, a custom parser is applied to your agency account to structure incoming CAD fields automatically.
- Structured Layout: Individual fields (Address, Nature of Call, Units, Incident Number) parse into organized sections under Alerts.
- Active Mapping: Call locations automatically plot pins on the interactive map. Responders can still view original unparsed text under the Narrative tab for cross-referencing.
Understanding CAD Parsers
A CAD parser is an automated data-sorting engine that converts single-paragraph CAD text streams into discrete data fields.
- Library Matching: If your dispatch center uses a standard CAD export format, eDispatches applies an existing prebuilt parser from our integration library for immediate activation.
- Custom Development: If your CAD format is unique, our engineering team builds a custom parser at no additional charge after analyzing live call samples.
