iPhone Autoplay

Applies To: eDispatches iOS (iPhone) App Users

Autoplay for audio alerts is currently unavailable on iOS devices due to Apple background audio playback policies. While Android devices support autoplay from the lock screen, iOS requires manual user interaction to start audio.

Why iOS Does Not Support Autoplay

Apple enforces strict operating system rules regarding background audio playback to manage device performance and prevent unsolicited media playback:

• User Interaction Required: iOS policies require direct input (such as tapping a notification or play button) to start audio playback, especially when the app is running in the background or locked.
• Android Availability: Background and lock screen autoplay functionality is supported exclusively on Android devices.
• Future Updates: Our engineering team continually monitors Apple developer guidelines. If operating system policies change to permit background autoplay, support will be added in a future app update.
