Frequently asked questions regarding Latest Emergency Information (LEI) real-time 911 caller location features in the eDispatches mobile app.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is LEI?
A: LEI stands for Latest Emergency Information, providing real-time 911 caller location tracking directly within your dispatch alerts.
Q: Is there an additional cost for LEI?
A: No. LEI is a free feature addition for all accounts sending the required 911 caller data within their CAD alerts.
Q: Does LEI work with Audio Alerts?
A: No. LEI functions exclusively with CAD text alerts and is not supported on streaming audio alerts.
Q: What is required for LEI to work?
A: Your agency must have CAD alerts enabled, and the incoming CAD message sent to eDispatches must contain the 911 caller's phone number.
Q: How can I verify if our agency CAD sends the caller's phone number?
A: In the eDispatches app, open a CAD alert and tap View All Details to view the raw message string. If a phone number or the term redacted appears, eDispatches is receiving the required caller data.
Q: What if the caller's phone number is missing from our CAD data?
A: Contact your Account Administrator and Emergency Communications Center (ECC) contact to request adding the 911 caller phone number field to your CAD dispatch export format.
Q: Why does my CAD alert say "redacted" instead of showing a phone number?
A: Certain ECCs require phone number redaction for privacy compliance. eDispatches uses the hidden phone number to query RapidSOS location data while keeping the raw phone number obscured in your alert text.
Q: Why is caller location missing when the phone number is provided?
A: LEI location rendering relies on data transmitted to the RapidSOS platform by modern mobile operating systems (Apple/Google). If the caller's device or network does not push location data to RapidSOS, location pins cannot render.
Q: Why did the caller location marker disappear from the app map?
A: Active LEI caller location tracking displays in the eDispatches app for exactly 60 minutes from the initial CAD alert timestamp before expiring.
