Hardware Specifications
- Operating System: Linux-based standalone system.
- Peripherals: Headless operation (no keyboard, mouse, or external display required).
- Power Recovery: Automatic system recovery and restart following power outages or electrical restoration.

- Detector Unit: 9.17" x 8.17" x 2.52" (Approx. 3 lbs)
- Scanner Unit: 6.5" x 5.25" x 1.75" (Approx. 1 lb)
Facility & Installation Requirements
- Power Supply: 115V AC power supply (requires 2 standard electrical outlets).
- Network Connectivity: High-speed internet via dedicated Ethernet port. Note: Wi-Fi connectivity is intentionally unsupported to maintain system reliability and prevent audio dropouts.
- Radio Source: Clear radio reception for the scanner unit, or a direct line-level audio connection from a dispatch console/base radio via a standard 3.5mm stereo cable.
Network Bandwidth Usage
- Routine Check-Ins: Approx. 2 KB transferred every 10 minutes.
- Alert Transmission: Less than 500 KB per alert (recorded audio file upload).
- Streaming Audio: 20 – 30 kbps continuous upload feed.
IP Address Assignment Settings
DHCP is enabled by default and strongly recommended. If your network requires a Static IP configuration, the following details must be provided prior to hardware shipment:
- Assigned Static IP Address (e.g., 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, or 172.x.x.x)
- Subnet Netmask
- Default Gateway
- Primary & Secondary DNS Server Addresses
- Local NTP Server Address (if applicable)
Network Protocols & Firewall Rules
The equipment acts as a network client making standard OUTBOUND connections to remote eDispatches servers. No inbound port forwarding is required at the firewall.
- SSH: Port 22 (TCP) — Outbound client connection. (An internal SSH daemon listens on local port 22 for LAN troubleshooting only; no external port forwarding needed).
- HTTP: Port 80 (TCP & UDP) — Outbound client connection.
- HTTPS: Port 443 (TCP) — Outbound client connection.
- NTP: Port 123 (UDP) — Outbound time synchronization.
Destination IP Addresses & Whitelisting
Network Recommendation: To ensure uninterrupted service as server infrastructure updates, it is strongly recommended to whitelist by domain names rather than fixed IP addresses: edispatches.com, edispnoc.com, edisp.us, broadcastify.com, and radioreference.com.
