Complete physical setup guide for eDispatches Scanner and Detector hardware units. eDispatches hardware operates fully automated without requiring dispatch intervention, external keyboards, or displays.
Prerequisites: Standard AC power outlet, wired Ethernet internet connection, and clear radio reception.
Scanner Setup
- Connect Antenna & Power: Attach the provided external antenna cable and power adapter to the corresponding rear ports on the scanner unit. Plug the power transformer into an electrical outlet.
- Adjust Knobs: Turn the Squelch dial to the 12 o'clock position. Turn the Volume dial to the 10 o'clock position.
- Verify Display Status: Confirm your dispatch frequency displays on screen. The screen should indicate PRIVATE & HOLD SCAN.
- Perform Audio Signal Check: Request a live test page from your dispatch center. The broadcast audio must be clear and static-free. Note: If audio is unreadable or distorted, relocate the equipment to improve RF reception.
- Connect Audio Output: Plug one end of the 3.5mm stereo audio cable into the audio output jack on the rear of the scanner.
Detector Setup
- Connect Audio Cable: Plug the opposite end of the 3.5mm stereo audio cable into the blue audio input port on the back panel of the detector unit.
- Connect Network Cable: Plug an Ethernet cable into the RJ-45 network port on the detector, and connect the opposite end to an available LAN port on your network router or modem.
- Connect Power Cable: Insert the detector power cord into the rear power connector and plug the unit into an AC electrical outlet.
- System Initialization: Allow 15 minutes for the detector to boot up, register with eDispatches servers, and complete initialization routines.
- Final Test Page: Have dispatch transmit a test page. Verify that the mobile app receives the audio alert.
