This article will explain how your eDispatches CAD Alerts function. CAD Alerts are available for both iPhone and Android devices. If you are not yet set up with CAD Alerts, please review the following article which will help you get started with Enhanced CAD Relay
We have two phases to get your agency fully setup with CAD Alerts.
Phase 1
CAD Alerts during phase 1 will have the information provided by dispatch in the raw format. This information will appear, as sent by dispatch, in the narrative section of the alert screen. It is important to note that this is not the final product. In phase 1, the eDispatches team is beginning to evaluate how your CAD system assembles the information. Once we have numerous calls logged, the eDispatches development team will build a custom parser to organize your information within the app. The mapping component will not function until a custom parser is applied.
CAD Alerts - Phase 1When you receive your CAD Alerts, the Location will not be displayed and will be indicate "Location not found". CAD information will be located under the "Narrative". |
Phase 2
eDispatches has completed a parser based on the examples received during Phase 1. This identifies that CAD Alerts will be formatted and organized in the App which results in mapping capability.
CAD Alerts - Phase 2Now that the parser has been completed, mapping is available and the location will be marked on the map. Details are available under the "Alerts". You may still look at the original information under the "Narrative" to cross-reference the original information supplied to eDispatches. |
CAD Parser
When your dispatch agency begins to send us CAD data, it will arrive in a format that will need to be recognized by our system. Oftentimes, the information arrives in one paragraph without identifying breaks in the information provided. As a result, we will need to use a parser which is essentially a sorting mechanism.
eDispatches has built many parsers for clients and many of them are compatible among various systems. If this is the case for your agency, our development team will recognize this and apply a prebuilt parser from our library.
If your CAD system sends info in a format not previously seen by eDispatches staff, we will build a custom parser, free of charge, for your agency. If this is the case, we will need to receive a series of real calls prior to the parser being completed to verify accuracy which results in reliable data.
