Q. What is LEI?
A. LEI stands for Latest Emergency Information and is also referred to as real-time 911 caller location.
Q. Is there any additional cost to get LEI in eDispatches?
A. No. If your CAD alerts send the required information, LEI is a free addition.
Q. Does LEI work with Audio Alerts?
A. No. LEI only works with CAD Alerts.
Q. What is required for LEI to work?
A. For LEI to work, you must have CAD alerts enabled and the CAD message being sent to eDispatches must include the 911 caller’s number.
Q. How can I check my CAD alerts to see if this information is in what my agency sends?
A. In the eDispatches app, open a CAD alert and click on the View All Details button. Within this window should be the original message sent to eDispatches. If you see a caller number or you see “redacted” we are probably receiving the caller’s 911 information.
Q. I don’t see the 911 caller’s number (or redacted) in the original message. How can I get it added to my CAD data?
A. This depends on your CAD system. The best person to contact first would be your account administrator and then your ECC contact. They should be able to help assist in adding the 911 caller’s phone number to the CAD data sent to eDispatches if your CAD system supports this.
Q. Why do my CAD alerts say “redacted” in place of showing a caller’s telephone number?
A. Certain ECCs have requested we redact the caller information for privacy. They can send it to eDispatches for us to use to show you the caller’s location, but they have requested we redact the actual number, which is why you see “redacted”.
Q. Our CAD message is sending the 911 caller’s number, but their location is NOT showing up in the app. Why?
A. Not every caller will show up in the app. Currently LEI works with callers who use a mobile device such as Apple or Google and their location is sent to the RapidSOS platform. If the 911 caller information isn’t sent to the RapidSOS platform, eDispatches cannot display it in the app.
Q. The 911 Caller’s Information showed but now it’s gone. What happened?
A. If LEI is available, the eDispatches app will show the 911 caller’s information for 60 minutes from the time of the CAD alert. After 60 minutes, the 911 caller’s information is no longer displayed in the app.
Q. I have more questions about LEI, who can I contact?
A. You can contact our support team at 973-453-5810 x2 or send an email to support@edispatches.com and we will be happy to answer any questions you have.
